A prisoner who escaped from guards while attending a family funeral in Scotland has been found, police said.
Officers began a search for Jamie Ross after he absconded from custody at about lunchtime on Tuesday.
It is understood that the 29-year-old had been at a family funeral at Mortonhall crematorium in Edinburgh, STV reported.
An appeal was launched to help trace Ross, who police said has connections across Edinburgh and in Aberdeen and was last seen near the Cameron Toll shopping centre in the Scottish capital.
Police Scotland said: “Jamie Ross, 29, reported missing from Edinburgh, has been traced safely.
“Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal.”
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) previously said it was working with police to trace the prisoner.
Earlier this week, the prisoner transportation service GEOAmey said: “Our officers recognise the emotional significance of events such as funerals and try to show compassion and understanding while escorting persons in custody. It is therefore disappointing when this is abused and used as an opportunity to evade detention.”
