An inmate of the Hindalga Central Prison died in the District Hospital in Belagavi on Tuesday.
Siddagouda Hippalkar was admitted to the hospital after he had tried to hang himself in the prison a few days ago. Doctors tried to treat him, but he died of injuries that he had sustained, the police said.
Siddagouda Hippalkar was in jail after being convicted of murdering a young boy in Mole village a few years ago.
