Priscila Cachoeira on differences between pressure and responsibility after crucial UFC Fight Night 254 knockout

LAS VEGAS – Priscila Cachoeira beat Josiane Nunes with a first-round knockout Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 254 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Take a look inside the fight with Cachoeira, who said her knockout win was the last fight on her current deal, and hence came at just the right time.

Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes

Result: Priscila Cachoeira def. Josiane Nunes via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 2:46
Updated records: Cachoeira (13-6 MMA, 5-6 UFC), Nunes (10-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC)
Key stats: Cachoeira has all eight of her stoppage wins by knockout.

Cachoeira on the fight’s key moment

“She brought a lot of pressure, and I definitely felt she was strong. But I knew I had my chances. I also tried to connect on the counter. But I knew my uppercut was going to be there. It was something my coaches told me. I knew I was going to have chances to use it, and I got it in and got my knockout.”

Cachoeira on pressure

“Of course I’m going to feel a little bit of pressure. I was also fighting the last fight on my contract. So that added another layer of pressure, but at the end of the day, I worked as hard as I could. The adrenaline doesn’t really let you feel pressure or fear. I did feel the responsibility because it was my last fight (on my contract), we had lost two (straight), and I had all my team and we had been working very hard.”

Cachoeira on what she wants next

“I feel just fine. I’ve got no damage at all and I’m ready for the call. A month, month and a half? I just want to fight.”
