Pringles unveils its mascot’s full body following campaign from John Oliver

Popular crisp brand Pringles has given a look at the body of its mascot following pressure from British-American comedian John Oliver.

Oliver had joked on his HBO series Last Week Tonight about the long-standing logo, which features the disembodied head of a figure known officially as “Julius Pringles”.

During the last season of the topical comedy series, Oliver had joked: “What does the rest of the Pringle guy’s body look like? Is he tall or short? Does he have a lot of body hair, or is he completely smooth? When will you be able to tell me what his nipples look like?”

Though the season has now finished, Oliver posted a short update episode to YouTube, in which he addressed the reaction to the joke.

Many fans had drawn their own interpretations of Julius Pringles’ body, and sent the images to Oliver on social media.

In the video, Oliver then challenged Pringles to reveal their mascot’s body, saying he would donate $10,000 (£7,445) to non-profit organisation Feeding America if he was given an answer.

One day later, on 8 December, Pringles responded, with a live-action video in which a person was dressed as Julius Pringle.

The company also revealed they would be matching Oliver’s charity donation.

In September, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was renewed by HBO for three more seasons, keeping the series on air until at least 2023.
