The River Walk running alongside Cardiff's Principality Stadium will be closed for eight weeks this summer. Cardiff Council stated that the popular path in the city centre will be closed from Monday, June 26 due to essential maintenance work being carried out to the stadium.
Cardiff Council has stated that "diversion signage will be in place to direct people to Fitzhamon Embankment on the other side of the river," during the closure.
However, members of the public have shown concern due to the popularity of the walkway during the warmer weather. Concern has also been raised as the Principality Stadium is set to host a warm-up match for the Rugby World Cup 2023, between Wales and England on August 5, and the River Walk will still be closed.
The stadium is due to host one of its biggest events of the summer this week - Harry Styles' first solo gigs in Cardiff as part of his current UK tour. But the walkway will be open during his shows on Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 21. You can find out about the road closures that will be in place on the days here.
