Matt Waterfield, who has been Principal of Emmanuel College for eight years, will lead Grace College going forward with the support of Mrs Rachael Hooker, who will serve as Head of School.
Mr Hall has served young people and families in Gateshead for 15 years.
He joined ESF as Vice Principal of Emmanuel College in Lobley Hall, Gateshead, in 2008. He then worked on the redevelopment of Grace College, which was previously known as Joseph Swan Academy.
As principle, he has overseen changes which included:
- introducing a longer school day and uniform for students
- introducing an extensive personal development programme
- introducing broad, rich knowledge-based curriculum
- strengthening staff competencies
- championing improvements to the site
- facilities for students, staff and families
Professor Mark Pike, CEO of Emmanuel Schools Foundation, said: "Mr Hall would like to encourage the Grace College community to hold fast to the Foundation’s overarching vision for character education, academic excellence and community engagement and to leave no stone unturned in its drive towards achieving outstanding together.
"The Emmanuel Schools Foundation, Emmanuel College and Grace College sincerely wish him all the very best for his future endeavours and extend our thanks for his most valuable and long-standing service to education and particularly to the children in our schools.
"We wish his family improved health and wish him well both personally and professionally."
Mr Waterfield will continue to have oversight of Emmanuel College with the support of Mr Nat Ogborn, who returns to Emmanuel College as Head of School.
The foundation said new arrangements will take place with immediate effect and further leadership appointments will be made in due course.
