(Picture: AP)The Princess of Wales has revealed her son Louis’ poignant reaction after she told him the Queen had died.
Prince William and Prince Harry put their differences behind them as they were joined by wives Kate, the Princess of Wales and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex while greeting crowds of mourners at Windsor Castle on Saturday.
It was the first time they had been seen closely together since Harry and Meghan quit their royal duties and moved to the United States two years ago.
Banita Ranow, 28, from west London, who was among the crowd, said she heard Kate tell children next to her about what her youngest son Louis had said about the Queen’s death.
She said Kate told the children: "Louis said at least Grannie is with great grandpa now."
Her mother Baljinder Ranow, 64, added: "I just hope in the future they remain like that and that the brothers come together, and the families."
King Charles also delighted thousands of onlookers with an unexpected walkabout, greeting them, above, just after 6pm.
It came as Prince William revealed he is grieving for both his grandmother and "our extraordinary Queen", as he made a very personal tribute to the late sovereign.
"I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly be real," said the new Prince of Wales in his first public remarks following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
"I will honour her memory by supporting my father, the King, in every way I can," William said, speaking of his father King Charles III’s accession to the throne.
William said the world had "lost an extraordinary leader", adding that the Queen had provided the perfect example of "service and dignity in public life" to his generation.
He continued: "I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of the Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade."
The prince also said his children would have "memories that will last their whole lives" of their great-grandmother, and that his wife, Princess Kate, "has had twenty years of her guidance and support".
