This Morning viewers got a glimpse of what Princess Dianna might look like today aged 60.
The show featured an appearance by Nicky Lilley, who worked as a Princess Diana lookalike when she saw alive and who could have closely resembled the late Princess of Wales in the present day.
The segment was broadcast as her sons Prince William and Prince Harry unveiled a new statue in her honour.
Nicky was employed as a Diana lookalike before the royal tragically died in a car crash in 1997.
“So I suppose really this is perhaps a little bit of an insight into what the Princess might have looked like,” This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield asked Lilley.
“You’re pretty much the exact age she would have been. But for you those times must have been busy but also very special.”
Nicky replied: “Yes I used to do lots of fun things, different jobs all around the world.
“It was a wonderful few years when I working as a lookalike.”
Nicky stressed that she used to work as a Diana lookalike for a number of years and would often get mistake for the Princess.
“I’d be pushing my supermarket trolley and someone would come up to me in tears and say, ‘I’m so sorry about Charles – the infidelity,’ and things like this,” revealed Nicky.
“I was thinking, ‘I’m sure Diana doesn’t push her own supermarket trolley’, but still.”
Fashion guru Gok Wan also appeared in a special Diana segment on the hit morning show.
He looked at what Diana might have worn nowadays having been a fashion icon when she was alive.
But lots of fans were left unconvinced by the lookalike section and were vocal about their reservations on social media.
“A princess Diana lookalike? Really?” moaned one perplexed viewer. “Does she look like Diana?”
“Cringing throughout the Poundland Princess Diana fashion segment,” reacted one bemused viewer.
“A princess Diana lookalike? Really?’ while one more asked: ‘Does she look like Diana?’
“Love Gok, but the styling & tenuous concept was dodgy,” added another equally disillusioned fan of the ITV show.
Another said: “This whole segment is a real reeeeeaaach to link it to Diana,’ while one more branded the segment ‘disrespectful’.”
A lot of fans were not happy with what they deemed a “tasteless” segment.
As one more wrote on Twitter : "If you listen carefully you can hear the sound of the barrel being scraped. Diana lookalike...
"It would have been better if they had a psychic on channelling the spirit of Princess Diana. “That would have been a better and far more interesting segment."
