Princess Cruises' original Sun Princess was the ship where the iconic "Love Boat" television show took place. You can thank Douglas S. Cramer, a prolific television producer in the 1970s and 80s, for that.
"After the 1977 pilot show, which was shot aboard the line's original Sun Princess in Mexico, Cramer teamed up with top television producer Aaron Spelling and the rest is history," the cruise line shared on its website.

The original show was a massive hit that ran for 10 seasons.
"Princess Cruises soon became a household name as the primary setting and ocean-going co-star of the popular series and continues to be known as the 'Love Boat' cruise line to this day," the cruise line added. "With ships Pacific Princess and Island Princess, the original floating stars of the show, 'The Love Boat' was filmed aboard many Princess ships in exotic destinations around the globe."
The cruise line has celebrated its history using the show's iconic theme song in commercials and in 2022 it offered a "Love Boat Celebration as Sea Cruise." It brought that promotion back in early September for a sailing out of Boston.
Now, the cruise line has shared that it plans to run it back again.

Princess Cruises celebrates "The Love Boat"
Princess Cruises shared the news of the new "Love Boat Celebration as Sea Cruise" with a Tweet on X (the former Twitter).
"The Love Boat Celebration at Sea: where TV nostalgia met real-life adventure. Fans had the ultimate experience — filled with joy, laughter, and yes.a whole lotta LOVE! But guess what? We’re doing it all again next year, setting sail from Galveston!"
Princess offered a link to the cruise that showed it's a 7-day cruise on the Regal Princess leaving from Galveston on Nov. 16 2025. It will stop in Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatan, but other than calling it a "Love Boat Celebration as Sea Cruise," Princess did not share any specific details.
The recent "Love Boat" tribute cruise offered the actors behind some classic characters as well as some newer ones.
