Princess Charlotte's seven sassiest moments as royal celebrates her birthday

Patient mum Kate Middleton once described her middle child as the boss of the household.

We've certainly seen already that Princess Charlotte has quite the personality - and isn't afraid to tell people what's on her mind.

There have been plenty of bold public moments as she begins to fully understand what royal life entails.

As she celebrates her seventh birthday, the adorable, but sassy youngster, is sure to keep everyone entertained as she unwraps her gifts.

She is often described as the most outspoken and determined of all of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children, so the Mirror couldn't pass up the chance to take a look at some of her most colourful moments as she marks her big day.

Putting photographers in their place

Dealing with the press is part of any royal's job - and some are better at than others when the snappers are in action, just ask Prince Charles!

One of Charlotte's most fierce moments so came at the christening of younger brother Prince Louis.

The then three-year-old walked hand-in-hand with dad Prince William outside the chapel.

Then she made eye contact with the photographers standing outside - and told him exactly what was on her mind.

Charlotte didn't drop her gaze as she told them "you're not coming" as the family walked outside.

Showing aides her flower power!

It's no real surprise that in the few public appearances that she's made, her strong personality has really shone through.

When Charlotte emerged from church at Sandringham on Christmas Day 2019, she was presented with a beautiful bunch of white roses by a well-wisher.

Royal aides are then usually passed the flowers to carry so the royal can keep their hands free and talk to other well-wishers.

But it appeared that Charlotte had clearly taken a liking to the blooms and wasn't ready to give them up.

So when an aide offered to carry them, she shook her head and refused to let them go.

She then clutched the flowers as she walked back to Sandringham House with the rest of the royals.

Putting her foot down in Germany

When William, Kate, George, and Charlotte were on their last day of a two-day visit to Germany and Poland in 2017, all seemed to be going to plan.

But Princess Charlotte had other plans - and had reached her limit, dropped herself in a heap on the floor in a classic toddler's tantrum.

With the tears flowing and the cameras all following the melodrama, Kate was forced to dish out a rare public telling off for the young Princess.

Charlotte really put her foot down and threw a spectacular tantrum out on the runway - and was subsequently scolded by her unimpressed mum.

Getting tongues wagging

When you're a royal, it's keyword decorum at all times. Well, most of the time.

But there's always a moment or two for some silliness and Princess Charlotte decided a sailing regatta on the Isle of Wight was a time to turn on the cheeky.

Much to her mother's surprise, she suddenly decided to stick her tongue out at the crowd as the cameras focused on the family.

Mum Kate saw the funny side before having a quiet word with her then four-year-old daughter - and she hasn't done it since.

Owning Buckingham Palace balcony

The Buckingham Palace balcony has provided a backdrop for many brilliant moments with the younger royals.

Whether it's Prince Louis getting grumpy, Prince George screwing up his face or Princess Charlotte giving adorable attitude.

In June 2019, Princess Charlotte was caught doing a next level double royal wave, opening her arms out wide and looking as if she owned the balcony.

This wasn't the first time she had stolen the show with her waves and it certainly won't be the last.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told the Mirror: "Charlotte is the most buoyant and outgoing of the three Cambridge children.

"It’s that strength of character that will stand her in good stead when she’s older."

Keeping George on his toes

Prince George knew from an early stage that his little sister wasn't letting him have it all his own way.

William and Kate released an adorable video of their children enjoying time in Kate's garden that she designed especially for the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 - and it was quite telling.

The clip was captured using hidden cameras that allowed the royal youngsters to play naturally.

Dad William can be heard in the background encouraging the little ones, saying "well done... brilliant!"

He then makes a mistake.

Asking Charlotte "can you help George?" she simply replies "no" and continues bouncing around.

Stealing the show!

As any good sass-pot knows, the chance to make any occasion about you can't be missed.

The world's media gathered outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington in 2018 following the birth of Prince Louis.

A then two-year-old Charlotte and excited big brother George were brought by their dad to meet their new sibling.

The young royal seemed to revel her moment in the spotlight and waved and smiled for the cameras with real gusto.

And even before walking through the front door she turned around to face the crowds one more time and treated them to another adorable little wave.
