Princess Charlotte's adorable tribute to the late Queen's love of horses

There was a touching personal tribute to The Queen's love of horses from her great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte this morning. The Royal Family had gathered for the funeral of The Queen at Westminster Abbey.

The seven-year-old princess was walking behind the coffin with her brother, Prince George, nine, and her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales. Charlotte was dressed in black and wearing a formal hat for the first time, the Mirror reports.

And in a sweet gesture, she had a small pin badge of a horseshoe. Horses were, of course, a great passion of the late monarch who died at the age of 96.

Prince George was reading the order of service during the Archbishop of Canterbury’s sermon at the funeral, while Princess Charlotte was seen whispering to her mother. Mourners who “follow the Queen’s example, and inspiration of trust and faith in God, can with her say: ‘We will meet again’,” the Archbishop of Canterbury said in his sermon.

Justin Welby told attendees of the Queen’s state funeral that grief felt across the world arises from the Queen’s “abundant life and loving service, now gone from us”.

In his sermon, the archbishop said: “People of loving service are rare in any walk of life. Leaders of loving service are still rarer.

“But in all cases those who serve will be loved and remembered when those who cling to power and privileges are long forgotten.

“The grief of this day – felt not only by the late Queen’s family but all round the nation, Commonwealth and world – arises from her abundant life and loving service, now gone from us.

“She was joyful, present to so many, touching a multitude of lives.”
