Princess Charlotte may dodge new titles as 'working woman', claims royal expert

Princess Charlotte might not take any future royal titles as she could go on to become a "working woman", an expert has claimed.

The only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales was born with the title of princess along with her royal highness status. Traditionally, royals receive additional titles as they get older and marry, as when William and Kate became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge upon their marriage.

It's been speculated that perhaps when Charlotte is older and her dad is one day King, she could be given the title Princess Royal. However, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has questioned whether or not this would happen in the "modern era".

The expert noted that the Princess may choose to become a "working woman" instead.

Speaking to OK!, she said: "I think we will be in a very modern era when the time comes. I question whether Charlotte will want to be burdened with more titles.

"She might be a working woman by then. Things could change so much in the next generation.

"The natural option it would seem to me is that she might become Princess Royal. That's the much more traditional route that the eldest daughter becomes Princess Royal so if I was going to put money on it, it would probably be that."

She continued: "But I also think that she might just feel she wants to remain as just Princess Charlotte. We've got William and Catherine who quite often tell the public to call them by their first names, so maybe their daughter will follow suit.

"Perhaps Charlotte will not even use the princess title by the time she's grown up and definitely won't want to be burdened with more titles."

The former correspondent's opinion comes as another expert claimed that Charlotte was the 'stand-out star' of the Royal Family after her impressive behaviour over the Coronation weekend.

The eight-year-old shone in the spotlight across the three-day celebrations and also helped keep her siblings in order.

Body language expert Judi James told the Mirror that Charlotte behaved as a "royal prefect" when she demonstrated how to wave the flag to Prince George and also ensured he was paying attention to their dad when he delivered his speech at the Coronation concert.

The expert said that numerous body language signs of Charlotte's indicate that she is naturally falling into the leading role among her two brothers George and Prince Louis.

She explained: "Charlotte's deep, perfect curtsey as the King walked past in the royal box was only one body language sign that she is becoming a stand-out star of the royal firm.

"She snapped into duty as royal prefect as soon as she sat down, waving her bangle and her flag at her brother George to show him how he should use them during the concert."
