Princess Charlotte and Prince George lead royal children at coronation

Prince George has been pictured arriving at Westminster Abbey as a page of honour for his grandfather King Charles III as the coronation began on Saturday afternoon.

The young royal, 9, was seen holding up a corner of the King’s robe as the royal party made its way into the church for the big occasion.

Little George looked smart in a red coat, white breeches and stockings. He sat behind the King in Westminster Abbey as Charles swore the coronation Oath.

Other pages of honour include Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, Master Nicholas Barclay, 13, and Master Ralph Tollemach, 12.

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were sat between their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, in the front-row.

The cute pair had been seen peering out of a car window as they arrived outside the venue just moments earlier on Saturday morning.

World leaders, prime ministers from overseas, foreign monarchy and the extended British royal family were seated inside the ancient place of worship.

Those invited included actress Dame Emma Thompson, musicians Lionel Richie and Nick Cave, presenters Ant and Dec and actresses Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Joanna Lumley.

The Duke of Sussex was seated in the third row, two rows behind William, but the Duchess of Sussex has remained at home in the US.

The King will become the 40th reigning monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, the nation’s coronation church, since William the Conqueror was anointed monarch within its walls on Christmas Day 1066.
