Princess Beatrice's stepson sent to school in UK not US so he 'won't die at his desk'

The mother of Princess Beatrice's stepson has sent her boy to school in the UK so he doesn't become a victim of another tragic school shooting.

Architect Dara Huang, 39, was engaged to interior designer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 39, before his relationship with his now-wife, the King's niece, Princess Beatrice.

Dara's son, Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi, who goes by the nickname "Wolfie", has been warmly welcomed into the royal family - even joining King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla as they walked to church at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

But now Dara has made her gratitude known for the fact that little Wolfie will get a British education rather than having to attend school in her native US.

By sending him to the UK, she hopes the six-year-old will avoid any chance of becoming yet another tragic school shooting victim.

Writing on social media, she said: "I'm glad my son doesn't go to school in the USA.

"I can sleep at night knowing he won't die at his desk tomorrow morning."

At least 1,500 children have been killed in gun-related incidents in the US so far this year, with more than 600 mass shootings across the states.

She made the comments after returning back to the US for the festive season while her lad remained at the King's Norfolk treat with the princess and her husband.

"Not to get all political here, but I went to a sports store in the US to buy tennis shoes today and couldn't help but notice this huge gun section – post Xmas sale," Dara wrote.

"So I walked up to the man and said, 'What do I need to buy a gun home? Do I need a licence?' And he said, 'No, you can buy one right now and either take it in two days or take a $50 two-hour 'conceal and carry course' and bring it home right now'.

"And I said, 'OK, so no licence needed, medical records, history of felony?' And he said, 'Nope. You can keep it in your car or home, as you see fit.' "

She adds: "Literally anybody can buy the most dangerous weapon known to man."

Dara was born and grew up in the US after her maternal grandfather emigrated from Taiwan.

Dara - who obtained her British citizenship earlier this year - was recently featured on Britain's Most Expensive House on Channel 4.
