Princess Beatrice's husband Edo steps up royal role - from private billionaire to regular

Princess Beatrice has had a diary packed full of events that she's attended so far this summer.

She's been at the Chelsea Flower Show, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations and Royal Ascot - to name just a few.

And at her side at many of her appearances, including her trip to Glastonbury this weekend, has been her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The couple wed in a low-key ceremony almost two years ago and at the time, property developer Edo kept mainly out of the spotlight.

But in recent months, he has been making more and more appearances, especially at royal events - and has even shared more glimpses of his personal life on social media.

Here we look at how father-of-two Edo has seemingly come out of the shadows and stepped into the spotlight...

Low-key wedding

When Edoardo first started dating Beatrice, the couple kept a relatively low profile.

And even when they married during the height of the Covid pandemic in July 2020, their wedding was very low-key by royal standards.

Among the guests were the bride's parents, the Queen, the late Prince Philip and Edo's young son Wolfie from a previous relationship.

Several photos were published of the nuptials after the event, where Beatrice wore a gown from the Queen's wardrobe that was remodelled for her.

And after the wedding, the couple, especially 38-year-old Edo led seemingly quiet lives.

The only time he posted non-business-related posts on Instagram after the wedding was to mark their first anniversary and later to announce the birth of their daughter Sienna, who was born last September.

Personal updates

However, after Sienna's birth, Edo began to open up more on social media and posted about a holiday to Greece he had enjoyed with his son Wolfie.

As well as listing his professional titles, his Instagram bio also now describes him as a husband and father - a change made sometime last year.

As the Queen's Jubilee approached, he made posted a picture of Her Majesty, for the first time, to mark her 96th birthday in April with the caption: "Happy Birthday Your Majesty. In this Platinum Jubilee year, we celebrate your incredible service."

Meanwhile, during the Jubilee, he shared a gorgeous photo of his wife and his sister-in-law Princess Eugenie from the service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, where he gushed: "My wonderful sister-in-law and phenomenal wife looking so stunning. #jubilee."

It came a day after he shared pictures of the flypast during Trooping the Colour on his Instagram stories.

And just last week, he made another rare personal photo when he shared an image of himself and Beatrice at Royal Ascot next to a beautiful sculpture of a ram at the racecourse.

Growing royal appearances

After staying behind the scenes for much of 2021, Edo and Beatrice made one of their now many high-profile appearances at Christmas time.

They attended a Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey hosted by the Duchess of Cambridge - and were pictured alongside other royals including Prince William, Sophie Wessex and Zara Tindall.

Then earlier this year, Edo also accompanied his wife to Westminster Abbey again for a memorial service for the late Prince Philip.

And since May, the appearances have come thick and fast with the pair being seen at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the Chelsea Flower Show and on three separate days at Royal Ascot.

This also doesn't include the Jubilee celebrations with Edo attending Trooping the Colour, the service of thanksgiving at St Paul's and the Platinum Party at the Palace.

He was also present for the Jubilee pageant, where he even brought his son Wolfie along.

And although it wasn't a public appearance, Beatrice and Edo were spotted wandering through the festival grounds at Glastonbury this weekend.
