Princess Beatrice and Eugenie have been left 'devastated' after the planned ramping up of their royal duties was put on hold.
The pair have been rocked by the scandal currently surrounding their father Prince Andrew.
They had been set to increase their duties after Meghan and Harry left the royal family but this is now likely to be placed on hold, according to an expert.
Richard Fitzwilliams stated that the pair would be deeply affected by the ongoing case involving their father, adding that they are a close-knit family, The Mirror reports.
And any expansion of their roles will now have to be shelved after the Duke of York was stripped of all military titles and royal patronages , according to the former editor of the 'The International Who's Who' book series.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “The Yorks are a close-knit family and this will be devastating for them.
“They only perform a very few royal duties. However, any expansion of their roles, which was a possibility as there are fewer senior royals and many of them are no longer young, is now impossible for the foreseeable future.”
Beatrice and Eugenie, daughters of Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, occasionally attend public events as members of the royal family.
However, they are private citizens and each have their own careers.
Beatrice began her working life as a Selfridges personal shopper to gain work experience during her gap year.
The princess "wanted to get experience of a big retail store and its buying process," a spokesperson told the BBC.
After graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2011, she went on to work full time and earned the role of Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at software company Afiniti in 2017.
Younger sister Eugenie read English literature and history of art at Newcastle University graduating in 2012 with a 2:1 degree.
She worked as an associate director at art gallery Hauser & Wirth where she was promoted to director in 2017.
Prince Andrew is facing a US civil action over allegations of sexual assault which he has profusely and consistently denied.
