About 100 passengers and a motorist have escaped serious injury after a train hit a van in Victoria's east this morning.
A delivery van was hit by a V/Line passenger train at the intersection of Shady Creek Road and the Princes Highway at Yarragon about 8:20am.
Victoria police highway patrol officer Andy Milbourne said the van had stopped on the level crossing.
"The driver of the van was lucky to escape with minor injuries and taken to hospital for assessment," Acting Senior Sergeant Milbourne said.
He also said there were no injuries to any of the train's passengers.
"The train has sustained significant damage and V/Line operators are going to have to take a look at that," he said.
Trains along the Gippsland line have been cancelled and V/Line is waiting for the scene to be cleared before they resume.
Buses are replacing trains between Warragul and Traralgon.
