On Thursday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had been rushed to hospital for observation following “temporary side effects” from his ongoing cancer treatment. The sudden health scare led to the postponement of his scheduled royal engagements, including those planned for Saturday.
Despite the worrying news, Prince William carried on with his public commitments, travelling to Aberdeen to mark a major milestone for his homelessness initiative, Homewards UK. The project, which he launched in 2023 under the Royal Foundation, aims to end homelessness across the UK within five years.
Following the visit, William took to Instagram with a positive update about the initiative’s progress. “An inspiring day in Aberdeen yesterday, seeing all the work being done by Homewards and their partners in the area to support those in the city who have lived experiences of homelessness,” the post read.
While the Prince of Wales focused on his mission, his father was being closely monitored by medical professionals. On Friday, March 29, the Palace issued a formal statement confirming that Charles’ engagements had been postponed “as a precautionary measure.”
After a short period of observation in hospital, King Charles returned to Clarence House. Ever the dedicated monarch, he reportedly resumed his royal duties, including reviewing state documents and making official calls, before heading to his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire to rest.
Photographs showed the King waving to well-wishers from the backseat of a black Audi as he departed. Despite the alarming situation, palace insiders maintain that the King’s capacity to fulfill his royal role remains “unaltered.”
