Prince William 'hires valet to pick his clothes so he can focus on royal duties'

PRINCE William has hired a valet responsible for his clothing and appearance to allow him to put more focus on his royal duties, according to reports.

The heir to the throne has hired the new personal attendant following similar moves from his father, King Charles, GB News reported.

Anti-monarchy campaign group Republic shared a post on Twitter/X reacting to the news. It read: “This man is just back from his eight-week summer vacation and decides he is too busy to dress himself?

“You might say he is taking the piss, but that could be the job of the valet. #NotMyKing.”

Reports in the Express and OK! Magazine said that Prince William and Kate had “blocked off much of the summer” in order to spend time away from royal duties with their three children.

The lengthy holiday – which included time at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate, Balmoral Castle, and the Caribbean island of Mustique – was said to have “raised eyebrows” among the royal household.

Reports said William’s valet will not be directly funded by the taxpayer. Instead, his annual income from the Duchy of Cornwall – which is valued at more than £1 billion – will fund the role.

William will be taking more than £20 million in profits from the Duchy in an average year. Accounts showed it generated record profits of £24.048 million in the 2022-23 financial year.

King Charles held the Duchy of Cornwall for more than five decades before it was passed to his eldest son when he ascended to the throne.

Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, claimed in the 2015 documentary Serving The Royals: Inside The Firm that Charles had used valets similar to William’s new hire for all kind of purposes.

Burrell said: "His pyjamas are pressed every morning, his shoelaces are pressed flat with an iron, the bath plug has to be in a certain position, and the water temperature has to be just tepid.

"[Charles] has his valets squeeze one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush every morning."
