Prince William seems to have put his previous difficult relationship with stepmother Camilla behind them as he offered a kind hand at this morning’s ceremony.
The pair once reportedly had a frosty relationship owing to the split between his beloved mother Diana and the new King in 1992.
It was long believed William's relationship with his stepmum and his father was not the easiest over the years.
Over time and since Camilla married Charles in 2005, William and Camilla have worked at their relationship and today are much closer.
This morning, as the new Queen Consort was taking the stairs at her husband’s ceremony, she seemed to stop a little prompting the kind Prince of Wales to put out a hand if she needed help.
They later stood behind the King at the declaration at St James’s Palace.
Previously a palace source told royal biographer Penny Junor for her book Prince William: Born to be King: "I think the relationship between them all is warm now but if I'm honest, it wasn't then. I think they found it hard.
“To be fair to Camilla, she never tried to be mummy but she was the 'other woman' and she was there and taking daddy's time.”
Charles and Camilla went public with their relationship in the early 2000s - several years after the death of Princess Diana - but William and brother Prince Harry were not pictured with her in public until 2001.
Meanwhile, a source told the Daily Mail : "There were huge family rows in the early stages of Charles and Camilla's marriage as everyone found their feet. William didn't have the best relationship with his father back then."
Earlier this year, when the Queen herself announced the role Camilla would taken on the event of her death, it was reported Prince William approved despite "huge family rows" in the early stages of her marriage to Charles.
The Duke of Cambridge was said to be "happy" with his grandmother's wishes for Camilla to become Queen Consort when Charles takes the throne.
And an insider told the Daily Mail : "There were huge family rows in the early stages of Charles and Camilla's marriage as everyone found their feet. William didn't have the best relationship with his father back then.
"But he sees that Camilla had made his father happy and it is something he has come to terms with."
