Prince William was reportedly angered after his sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, made a gesture that caused disruption within the Palace. The Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down from her senior royal role in 2020 alongside her husband, Prince Harry, has remained distant from her in-laws, especially after her explosive Oprah interview.
While tensions between William and Meghan appeared to escalate later, Prince Harry revealed in his memoir, Spare, that the two never seemed to have a strong connection from the beginning. Royal biographer Tom Quinn explored William’s discomfort with Meghan’s behavior in his new book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants.
Quinn wrote, “This tactile manner made William uncomfortable because Meghan hugged him virtually every time they bumped into each other.” He further noted that Meghan’s frequent “hugging and cheek-kissing fuelled gossip among the staff that [she] was flirting with William, which she was obviously not.”
The author added, “The tense atmosphere caused by all the touchy-feeliness (and the resultant gossip) deepened the rift between the brothers.”
Meanwhile, a source told InTouch Weekly that the real issue between Prince William and Meghan Markle stemmed from cultural misunderstandings that not only strained their relationship but also sparked a wider family feud.
