Scott Prince has become the man charged with turning Brisbane back into an NRLW force, after being handed his first top-flight coaching job.

An assistant with the Broncos last season, the former Queensland State of Origin half has been confirmed as the replacement for the outgoing Kelvin Wright.

Prince has also worked with several Brisbane players in the past as a head coach, after leading the Valley Diehards to the BHP Premiership grand final in 2021.

"I feel like the time is right for me," Prince said.

"I have had a number of roles in the women's game but nothing compares to the excitement I have about coaching the Brisbane Broncos NRLW side.

"The journey will be challenging, however with hard work, a proven coaching staff around me, and a committed squad of players, I know we can build a successful program.

"I love working in the women's game. The players have a genuine desire to learn and improve, and as coach that's all you can ask for."

Brisbane won the first three editions of the NRLW, but were shocked in the semi-finals of the early-season competition at the start of 2022.

They then bombed in the later-season competition in September, going out with just one win from five games and finishing second-last on the ladder.

Wright, who had coached the Broncos to two of their premierships, subsequently informed the club he was moving back to New Zealand.

Paul Dyer, who coached Brisbane to their first premiership in 2018, will take on a role as head of the club's women's program.
