Prince Louis slapped down by sister Charlotte for bout of 'Olympic waving' in carriage

Princess Charlotte took her sisterly and royal duties very seriously when she made her carriage debut with brothers George and Louis. The young royals were taking part in The Trooping of the Colour to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee when the seven-year-old took control of her youngest brother's energetic waving.

Cheers went up from thousands of spectators in The Mall as they caught sight of the young royals with proud mum Kate the Duchess of Cornwall. The traditional carriage procession left Buckingham Palace ahead of Trooping the Colour, also known as the Birthday Parade, that marked the start of four-day of festivities honouring the Queen's 70-year reign. You can follow live updates from the day here.

Whilst George and Charlotte played it relatively cool, the occasion seemed to have been too exciting for the four-year-old who was filmed waving almost maniacally from the guided carriage. With a flick of her wrist, Charlotte pulled Louis' arm down, leaving the little prince with a slight frown on her face, before he began waving again.

Reacting to the hilarious moment on Twitter, one person said Charlotte had displayed a definite big sister attitude. They said: "Speaking as someone who grew up with a big sister. Prince Louis deploying some Olympic level waving, being stopped by Princess Charlotte and then immediately starting again regardless, is now the high point of the whole thing." Another laughed: "Prince Louis hasn't quite got the hang of the wave thing yet, has he? Sweeet."
