Prince Harry would be welcomed back to UK with open arms, claims royal expert

A royal expert has claimed the UK would welcome Prince Harry back with open arms despite his recent controversial decisions.

It comes following a turbulent time for the Royal Family following Harry and Meghan's decision to step back from their senior royal duties in 2020.

The pair decided to relocate, first to Canada and then permanently to Montecito in California where they currently reside.

The pair informed Queen Elizabeth II in February 2021 that they would not be returning to the UK to work for the family.

Since their decision to step down, the estranged couple has been embroiled in various controversies.

But despite the strained relationship Harry and Meghan have with the rest of 'the Firm', Australian political commentator Daisy Cousens remains adamant that they would 'absolutely' welcome Harry back to the UK.

Speaking on Sky News Australia, she said: "I think they absolutely would [welcome him back].

"And I think probably most of them expect him to come back at some point. I mean, I've been calling Harry the Prodigal Prince for years. I think we will certainly see a bit of an iteration of that table.

"I think Charles will take him back with open hands. Prince William might need a little bit of convincing, but ultimately they are brothers, they have bonded through trauma and blood so I don't think there's any question that Prince Harry would be welcomed back if/when the time comes."

It comes as King Charles III's former royal butler said that it's 'very possible' that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will move back to the UK at some point in the future.

Speaking about the couple's possible move, Grant Harrold told the New York Post: "I'd never say never, it's always possible that one day he might want to come home, it's possible that he might buy [a property] here if he wanted to come over [more] and Meghan didn't want to come over.

"Meghan doesn't really have any family here as such, all her family are in the States and that's where Harry has decided he wants to set up his home."

It has been a while since Meghan returned to the UK, despite her husband attending his father's Coronation.

According to reports, the last time Meghan was in the country was in September 2022 as both she and Harry attended the One Young World Summit in Manchester.

During her speech at the event, Meghan said it was ‘very nice to be back,’ but the good mood was quickly squashed as The Queen passed away on 8 September and Harry and Meghan's stay in the UK was extended.

Harrold, speaking on behalf of Oddspedia, shared that while the couple hasn't visited the UK very often since moving away, Harry is 'always going to have an association with the UK' and will never 'totally want to cut that off.'

He said that while it is 'very possible' that the pair will move back, 'they seem happy in the States.'

He added: "He'll want to have that association with Britain just in case one day he does want to come back and I don't think Harry will want to sever ties."
