Prince Harry was given just five minutes’ notice of his grandmother’s death before it was made public, according to reports.
The devastated royal was reportedly the last to know about her passing – and was even told after UK prime minister Liz Truss.
The 38-year-old received the news during a phone call from his father while he was mid-air, shortly before landing in Aberdeen.
However, insiders insisted that the Duke of Sussex was not treated differently to any other royal.
A source told The Telegraph: “Everybody was trying to get where they needed to be. That was the focus.
“And the King was adamant that the official statement must not be released until all members of the family had been informed. That was a father talking because he cares.”
The newspaper suggested this was a further example of the rift between the prince and his family.
He wore the uniform to Saturday night’s vigil over the Queen’s coffin alongside the monarch’s seven other grandchildren.
Harry is even said to have considered wearing a morning suit as they were leaving in order to avoid the “embarrassment”.
William and Harry, both dressed in military uniform, stood at either end of the coffin on Saturday night.
They were joined by cousins Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Lady Louise Windsor and her brother Viscount Severn.
