Prince Harry is set to make a return to the United Kingdom in May to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, the sporting event he established a decade ago. The Duke of Sussex will participate in a ceremony at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, where he will give a reading to mark this significant milestone.
Prince Harry's last visit to the UK was in February, following the announcement of his father King Charles’ cancer diagnosis. He expressed his love for his family and gratitude for being able to spend time with his father during that visit.
While it remains uncertain whether Prince Harry will have meetings with his relatives during his upcoming trip, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles is making progress in his treatment and is expected to resume public duties soon.
Since relocating to the United States in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have made occasional trips back to the UK for significant events. Meghan's attendance at the Invictus celebration alongside Prince Harry is yet to be confirmed, considering their son Archie's upcoming fifth birthday on May 6.
The Invictus Games, initiated by Prince Harry after his service in Afghanistan, focus on aiding the recovery of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. The next edition of the games is scheduled to take place in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, in February 2025, featuring over 500 competitors from more than 20 nations participating in various adaptive sports.
Winter sports will debut at the Vancouver Whistler games, including Alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, biathlon, skeleton, and wheelchair curling. The event will also emphasize collaboration with First Nations in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with Indigenous communities, as stated by Prince Harry on the games’ official website.
