Prince Harry To Resume Royal Duties, Visit London And Nigeria.

Britain's Prince Harry attends the 2023 WellChild Awards ceremony in London

Prince Harry is set to return to London in May following an announcement by King Charles III that he will resume his royal duties amidst a cancer diagnosis. The Duke of Sussex will be in London to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8. Founded by Harry, the annual multi-sport event will see him attend a service of thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral and give a reading alongside Damian Lewis.

The spokesperson for the event highlighted that the ceremony will celebrate a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport. It remains uncertain whether Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, will accompany him during the visit or if he will be attending solo. Additionally, it is unclear if Harry will spend time with his father or brother, Prince William, during his first visit to the United Kingdom since flying to see his father after the King's cancer diagnosis in February.

Since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Markle have made only a few visits to the UK. Following the London visit, the couple will travel to Nigeria as guests of the Chief of Defense Staff. They are expected to meet with various service members and participate in cultural activities.

The Nigerian trip, similar to the London visit, will focus on the Invictus Games and the country's inclusion in the event last year. The Acting Director of Defence Information stated that the visit aims to strengthen Nigeria's presence at the games and explore the possibility of hosting the event in the future.

Harry's connection to Nigeria was highlighted when he shared that Meghan has Nigerian heritage. He humorously mentioned that competitiveness in their household might increase due to this discovery. Harry previously flew to London to check on King Charles after the monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis in February.

Buckingham Palace announced that the King and Queen Camilla will resume public duties, with a joint visit to a cancer treatment centre planned. This visit marks the beginning of the King's return to external engagements in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife, disclosed last month that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was preparing for preventative chemotherapy after undergoing major surgery earlier this year.
