An independent book shop pulled a not-so-sly stunt after rearranging its window display this week.
Prince Harry's memoir Spare was artfully arranged alongside copies of Bella Mackie's novel, How To Kill Your Family, at this shop in Wiltshire.
The royal's autobiography hit shelves in stores across the UK today, despite details being leaked ahead of its official release date after copies accidentally went on sale in Spain last week.
Explosive details from the memoir, including that Harry's brother Prince William allegedly assaulted him in a row over Meghan Markle, have caused shockwaves, although the royal family has yet to officially comment or respond.
Bert's Books in Swindon meanwhile made a tongue-in-cheek gesture hinting at the royal family fallout after copies of the hotly-anticipated memoir were arranged alongside the punchily-titled fiction accompaniment.
How To Kill Your Family was originally released 18 months ago, but was last year's bestselling book for the independent shop.
Bearing uncannily similar themes to the non-fictional scandal currently embroiling the royals, the novel tells of a millionaire's daughter who vows to exact revenge on him and all her other paternal relatives after he rejects her dying mother's pleas for help.
Bert's Books tweeted a picture of the simple display on Tuesday morning.
"Anyway, we do have some spare copies of Spare if you want one," the shop quipped.
"Seriously, we had to buy then [sic] in a box of 12 to fulfil a couple of pre-orders, so if you do want a copy, you can order it here".
"How to Kill Your Family was the bestselling book in the shop in 2022, by the way. If you're seeing it for the first time because of this tweet, definitely a fun novel to check out."
Spare is already projected to be 2023's bestselling release, already shooting to the top spot on Amazon around the world.
John Cotterill, Waterstones' non-fiction category manager, has meanwhile revealed it was “one of the biggest pre-order titles of the last decade" for the retailer.
Other revelations spilled in the memoir include that Prince Harry claims to have killed 25 Taliban fighters while stationed in Afghanistan between 2012 and 2013, whilst also leaking details of private conversations between the family.
Harry alleges Princess of Wales Kate fell out with Meghan over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress ahead of the May 2018 wedding, after the garment was "too big".
He has also accused his family of "stereotyping" Meghan when the couple began dating, creating a "barrier" for her when she joined the family.
