Prince Harry’s residency in the United States remains uncertain, as former U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly signaled his support for legal action if the Duke of Sussex is found to have lied on his visa application regarding past drug use.
While Trump recently suggested he would not personally seek Harry’s deportation, a new report indicates the former president could still back a prosecution, which could have serious consequences for the Duke’s ability to remain in the country.
In an interview with the New York Post, Trump reassured fans of the Duke that he had no intention of taking action himself. “I don’t want to do that,” Trump stated when asked if he would deport Harry. “I’ll leave him alone.” However, he did not hold back when it came to Meghan Markle, adding, “He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Despite his comments, sources suggest that Trump remains open to supporting legal action if it turns out that Harry misrepresented details on his visa application. Reports have indicated that U.S. authorities are under pressure to investigate whether the Duke of Sussex failed to disclose past drug use—a factor that could have impacted his ability to obtain a visa.
Speaking on the matter, an insider told Radar Online, “President Trump has made it very clear that if Harry is found to have not told the truth on his visa application, then he could face prosecution.”
“President Trump has said he won’t deport Harry, but there is no doubt he would support a prosecution.” The source further added that there is growing concern in political circles about Harry’s legal standing. “The word in Washington is he should be very worried indeed. There is no love lost between the Sussexes and President Trump.”
The ongoing controversy stems from Harry’s past admissions of drug use, which were detailed in his memoir, Spare. U.S. immigration law typically requires applicants to disclose any history of drug use, and failure to do so could be grounds for visa revocation or other legal consequences.
While the Biden administration has yet to take any official stance on the matter, legal experts suggest that if evidence emerges proving Harry provided false information, he could face serious repercussions. For now, Prince Harry remains in the U.S., but the possibility of legal trouble looms large.
