Prince Harry's damning remarks about King Charles which 'prompted Frogmore boot'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly being booted out of Frogmore Cottage - but what prompted the decision by King Charles?

It's been claimed that Harry's controversial autobiography Spare was the final straw for the new monarch, who has supposedly offered the home to his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew.

The decision to evict the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which is said to have left the couple "stunned", was reportedly made shortly after Harry's memoir was released in January.

Harry made a number of damning allegations against his family, exposing many of the royals' intimate secrets and private conversations to the public.

When he wasn't speaking about his 'frostbitten todger' or name-dropping celebrities, Harry launched scathing attacks on his father, brother and step mother.

Referring to Charles as 'Pa' throughout, Harry said the King told his sons not to make his final years a misery.

During a chat after the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, Harry also claimed Charles pleaded with his sons to stop fighting.

Harry claimed his father did not hug him on the night his mother, Princess Diana, died and made a joke to her when he was born - saying his work was done now he had an heir and a spare.

The King also reportedly jokingly questioned whether he was Harry's father and made a joke in 'poor taste' about rumours James Hewitt is his real dad.

While any accounts of Charles having to reassure him Major Hewitt was not his dad are "invented", according to Harry.

The Netflix star also alleged Charles and William were conspiring against him and didn't understand him at all.

Charles was no doubt upset at Harry's treatment of Queen Consort Camilla, who he accused of leaking stories to the press and labelled 'the Other Woman'.

Harry once pondered if she would become his 'wicked stepmother' and says she would throw people under the bus to sit on the throne - and even turned his bedroom into her dressing room.

He compared meeting Camilla for the first time to awaiting an injection and that she appeared bored as they chatted about horses.

He claimed he and William begged Charles not to marry Camilla but they said they would welcome her into the family.

According to journalist Omid Scobie, one of the authors behind the biography of Harry and Meghan, Finding Freedom, the Sussexes have been left "stunned".

He explained: "It's news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family 'appalled'."

The late Queen gifted Frogmore Cottage to the Sussexes following their wedding back in 2018, but now they have been told it is "needed for someone else".

"It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment," a friend of the couple told Scobie . "It's like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good."

It's been claimed the couple will need to remove their belongings from Frogmore shortly after Charles' Coronation.

In 2019 it was converted into one home with five bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room and a nursery first designed for Archie, having previously been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.

Harry and Meghan only lived there for several months before deciding to walk away from working royal life, but the renovation costs totalled a whopping £2.4million.

The couple kept up a lease on the property after moving to California and stayed there last year when they returned to the UK for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

It remains to be seen as to whether Harry and Meghan will attend the Coronation of King Charles on May 6 this year.

The Sussexes have reportedly still not decided whether they are flying to the UK for the momentous occasion, but it's believed they will be invited as part of the 2,000-strong congregation at Westminster Abbey.

There are a number of issues, with relations between Harry and his family at an all time low, and the historic event awkwardly takes place on Archie's birthday.

Whether they will attend the coronation, and star-studded concert at Windsor Castle as pat of a bumper bank holiday weekend, depends on one simple demand.

According to sources, Harry wants a summit with King Charles and Prince William to discuss their issues.

A source told The Mirror: "Harry has been very clear and his position hasn't wavered – he isn’t going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral.

"He's said he wants to reconcile with his family and it’s their call, but so far nothing has changed."
