It emerged the actress was expecting the Royal's first son, Archie, in 2018, just months after the couple's Windsor wedding. According to Prince Harry's new book, Spare, they broke the news of the pregnancy to his sibling at his cousin Princess Eugenie's wedding in October 2018.
Our sister title, The Mirror, reports that Hello! magazine states the autobiography reveals William's exact reaction at learning he was to become an uncle. It's claimed William reacted exactly how Harry would have hoped, replying: "we must tell Kate".
The book is also said to claim King Charles was also delighted that he was to become a grandfather again.
Other revelations include him demolishing a Nando's, which had been brought by his bodyguards, in a hospital while Meghan was in labour with Archie. And he is understood to reveal how he delivered Lilibet and describes her first meeting with The Queen - during which she was delighted at Archie's attempt at a royal bow.
Meghan gave birth to Archie in May 2019 at the private Portland Hospital in London the couple broke from tradition and decided not to pose for the traditional 'hospital steps' royal photos. But Harry gave a spontaneous interview outside Windsor Castle shortly after Archie was born, praising his wife.
He said: "I'm very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy. I haven't been at many births.
"This is definitely my first birth - it was amazing, absolutely incredible. I'm so incredibly proud of my wife. And as every father and parent would say, your baby is absolutely amazing."
In another break from royal tradition, the couple kept details around Archie's arrival top secret. The couple confirmed Archie's arrival with a simple post on their Sussex Royal Instagram account - which said "it's a boy!".
