Prince Harry has urged people to get tested for HIV in his efforts to 'continue his mother's unfinished work' in raising awareness of the disease.
The Duke of Sussex chatted with Welsh rugby star and friend Gareth Thomas during a 30-minute video call to mark National HIV Testing Week.
It is the first time the royal has spoken in public since it was announced last weekend that Camilla will be become Queen when Charles becomes King, Birmingham Live reports.
He said: "Once you get to meet people and you see the suffering all around the world, I certainly can't turn my back on that.
"Then, add in the fact my mum's work was unfinished. I feel obligated to try and continue that as much as possible.
"I could never fill her shoes, you know - especially not in this particular space, because of what she stood for, how vocal and how passionate she was about this issue."
Harry added: "It is the converging of all these pieces and trying to finish the job, right?
"Once you have met so many people, and seen their suffering, especially in Botswana where I have seen it most, erm, there is a way out of it.
"If we know there is a way out of it, we know there is a solution."
Harry added: "My mum smashed that door down - kicked it open - and said if people are suffering, we need to learn more, and if there is stigma, then we need to talk about it more.
"I feel proud my mum started something incredible. It is already in the history books."
