Prince Harry is hoping "to lower the temperature on conflict" with the Royal Family as he confirms he will be attending King Charles' Coronation.
The Duke of Sussex has announced he will be at Westminster Abbey for the historic event, but his wife Meghan Markle will remain in California with their children — Prince Archie, three and Princess Lilibet, one.
According to one PR expert, the couple's decision shows they are "taking the route of least conflict".
Speaking to The Mirror, Matt Yanofsky said: "From a crisis communications perspective, this would signal that Harry wants to lower the temperature on conflict and media drama."
The PR expert and The Moment Lab founder added: "For once, the couple is taking the route of least conflict!"
Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming Harry's attendance at the Coronation on May 6.
"Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.
"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet," the statement read.
The announcement ends months of speculation about whether or not the couple would be at the Coronation, which is falls on the same day as Archie's fourth birthday.
It is said Archie's birthday has played a factor in the decision for Meghan to remain at home with her children.
It is expected Harry will only make a whistle stop trip to the UK for the big event.
Detailed planning for the historic spectacle is now in its final stages and up until yesterday, it was unknown if either would be at the event, causing a "headache" for organisers.
It meant organisers in charge of details such as seating arrangements, transport and security for VIPs, are unable to sign off on their plans.
Buckingham Palace last night admitted seating plans were still not confirmed, just over three weeks away from the ceremony.
