Prince Harry had list of what he was looking for when he met Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle says Prince Harry "had a list" of the things he was looking for in a partner when they met. The couple met in July 2016, just as Meghan got a new series of Suits confirmed but was setting off on a summer of travelling with friends. Follow live updates and reaction to the Harry and Meghan documentary here.

She said: "I was really intent on being single and just having friend time. I had my career, I had my life, I had my path. And then came H. Talk about a plot twist."

Prince Harry said: "Meghan and I met through Instagram, I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had a video of the two of them on Snapchat, with dog ears. I was like 'Who is that?'"

Meghan added: "That's what he saw of me. It's ridiculous. [My friend] sent me an email saying 'I know you said you're single but a friend of mine would like to meet you. It's Prince Haz.' I said 'Who's that?' I asked if I could see his feed. People say 'Did you Google him?' No. That's your homework, not what other people are saying about them, what are they putting out about themselves? So I went through and it was just beautiful photography and all these environmental shots and this time he was spending in Africa."

They got each other's phone numbers and decided: "Let's meet." They were both at Wimbledon and then set up a date. Meghan's friend, Silver Tree, said: "Meghan text me from London and said 'Silver, you're not going to believe this' and that she was going to go out on a date with him and we thought it was really funny. In what world does this happen?"

Meghan said: "We met at 76 Dean Street. He was late. I couldn't understand why he would be late. He kept texting I didn't know him so I thought 'This is what he's about, a guy with so much of an ego that any girl would sit around waiting for you'." She then laughed as she recalled: "Then he walked in all sweaty, so embarrassed and late. He was just so fun and that was the thing, we were like childlike together."

Harry said: "I was panicking, freaking out, so sweaty. We had a great chat for about an hour."

Meghan left after an hour telling Harry she had other plans. She said: "And then I called him that evening and said 'I'm leaving the day after tomorrow, do you want to have dinner tomorrow night?' I'm sure he told me that was so forward and American. We went and had dinner in the same place."

This time, Meghan was late, rushing in after a shower after being at Wimbledon again. But they got on so well they decided: "My gosh, we're going to give it a go."

Meghan said: "He had a list of all the things he was looking for". Harry points at Meghan and says: "This is the list."

Harry said: "This woman is amazing, she's everything I've been looking for, she's so comfortable in my company."

It is reported that Harry and Meghan have been paid up to $100 million for their Netflix deal.
