Prince Harry dodges King Charles' question while walking intothe UK court

Prince Harry is remaining tight-lipped about his relationship with the royal family, choosing instead to concentrate solely on his ongoing legal battle during a visit to the UK this week. On Tuesday, outside the Court of Appeal in London, the Duke of Sussex arrived for a two-day legal hearing and pointedly ignored a reporter’s question regarding his father, King Charles III.

“Did you speak to your dad?” a reporter called out as Harry entered the court building. The prince continued walking without offering any reply. The chances of a royal reunion during this visit appear slim. While Harry touched down in London on Sunday, April 6, his father had already left the country. King Charles and Queen Camilla are currently on a four-day state visit to Italy, making a personal meeting between father and son unlikely, according to Fox News.

Harry’s return to the UK is centered on his appeal against a 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC). The committee previously downgraded Harry’s police protection after he and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior working royals and relocated to the United States.

His legal team argues that the reduced level of security poses a risk not only to Harry himself, but also to his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. In their submission, his lawyers insisted that the children cannot feel “at home” or “safe” in the UK without full and appropriate security measures in place.

The hearing is taking place mostly in public, although certain segments involving sensitive national security details are being conducted behind closed doors. While Harry continues his court battle, King Charles and Queen Camilla are fulfilling their diplomatic duties in Italy. The royal couple’s itinerary includes stops in Rome and Ravenna, part of a broader effort to strengthen UK-Italy relations.

A planned visit to the Vatican was cancelled due to the health of Pope Francis. In response, additional engagements were added to the schedule to make up for the change. Harry’s ongoing legal efforts underscore his persistent concern over personal and family safety when visiting the UK.

Despite mounting public and press speculation, he has made no public statement regarding his father or the wider royal family during this trip. With the gulf between Harry and the royal household showing no signs of narrowing, the focus—for now—remains squarely on the courtroom.
