Prince Harry declined an invitation to stay in a royal residence during his recent trip to London, opting instead to stay in a hotel. The Duke of Sussex, who used to reside at Frogmore Cottage with Meghan Markle before stepping down from his royal duties in 2020, landed in the U.K. on May 7 for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Despite his arrival, Prince Harry's father, King Charles, was unable to meet with him due to a full schedule. A spokesperson for Prince Harry confirmed that a meeting with his father would not be possible during his nearly four-day trip abroad.
During the event, Prince Harry extended invitations to other royal family members, but they did not attend, reportedly due to ongoing tensions within the family. Kate Middleton, who is undergoing cancer treatment, and Prince William, who has not spoken to Prince Harry in over a year following the release of Harry's memoir, were notably absent.
However, Prince Harry was warmly received by his late mother Princess Diana's family at the games. He was embraced by his uncle Earl Spencer and aunt Lady Jane Fellowes during the event, showcasing a supportive relationship with his maternal relatives.
