The release date for Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir has finally been announced.
The Duke of Sussex’s tell-all book will be released on January 10, after being pushed back from an autumn release date.
Alongside that, it has been claimed the prince battled to water down its content after the tragic death of the Queen.
The memoir had originally been signed off for an expected autumn release as a part of his multi-million pound, three-book deal with Penguin Random House.
But when the Queen died, its release was delayed, and the Duke made a number of requests to alter its contents.
Last month, The Mail on Sunday reported that Harry had launched a last minute offensive to tone down the autobiography.
This came about amid fears his final draft ‘might not go down too well’ in the wake of the monarch’s death.
In a previous statement announcing the publishing deal, Penguin Random House described the memoir as "an intimate and heartfelt memoir" claiming that “ Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait”.
Following the Queen’s passing, most reports suggested it would be published in the new year.
Senior royals including King Charles and Prince William were said to be "increasingly uneasy" about the contents of the memoir.
An insider claimed the Duke of Sussex was "desperate" to get the book "refined" in the light of his grandmother's passing, but warned that it "might be too late".
A source told The Sun on Sunday : "Harry has thrown a spanner in the works as he is desperate to get it refined in the light of the Queen’s death, her funeral and his father Charles taking the throne.
"There may be things which might not look so good if they come out so soon after the Queen’s death and his dad becoming King.
"He wants sections changed. It’s not a total rewrite by any means. He desperately wants to make changes. But it might be too late."
The insider also claimed the publishers paid £18.4million up front for the book, but were "disappointed" by the first draft because it apparently focused on mental health issues more than they wanted.
Prince Harry has vowed that the book will be a "truthful and wholly accurate" account of his life - with the announcement of the novel sending a "tsunami of fear" through royal circles.
The death of the monarch brought Charles, William and Harry together once again as they mourned and walked behind her coffin in several processions - and attended her funeral with their wives.
The monarch died peacefully, at Balmoral, on Thursday, September 8.
Some reports suggested that royal aides were holding discussions whether they could prevent Harry’s memoirs being published.
Palace staff were said to be deeply concerned that the book may contain damaging revelations about the Royal Family.
