Prince Harry avoiding the Coronation would be the 'ultimate snub', claims expert

Prince Harry risks making "the ultimate snub" against the Royal Family if he decides not to attend King Charles' Coronation, one royal expert has claimed.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are still yet to confirm if they will attend the historic event on May 6, but their decision is thought to be just days away.

Author Tom Quinn has suggested if Harry decides to skip the Coronation, the snub will "never be forgotten".

"If Harry doesn't come it will never be forgotten. It's the ultimate snub. You're not coming to your father's Coronation, the King's Coronation. There's no going back from that," he warned.

Tom also suggested Harry and Meghan could come up with a "plausible reason" for their absence, but said they will be unable to convince people.

"They might be able to come up with a plausible reason such as they are worried about security or the kids.

"But, however brilliant the PR, there are some things you can never sell and they are not able to sell that," he told The Express.

The author also said it is "highly unlikely" that all of the Sussexes will attend the Coronation, amid reports Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have not been invited.

There's less than a month to go until the historic events and it's still unclear whether Harry and Meghan will travel to the UK for the royal celebration.

The lack of confirmation is said to have been causing Coronation organisers a headache when it comes to the likes of seating plans, transport and security.

Harry is said to have lots of legitimate concerns about the event, such as his family's safety, their roles on the day and how Archie's birthday will be celebrated.

However, according to The Times, the Sussexes are set to reveal their intentions "within days".

Plans for the Coronation have been revealed and show how the Crown Jewels will play a starring role during the service.

The Coronation Procession will feature hundreds of members of the Armed Forces from the UK, Commonwealth and British Overseas Territories, as well as the Sovereign’s Bodyguard and Royal Watermen.

Charles will be crowned with the 17th-century St Edward’s Crown, which has been resized for him, before switching to the the lighter Imperial State Crown at the end of the ceremony, as per custom.
