Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to arrive together in the UK today for the first time since they left the country to take part in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Arriving from California they are bringing Archie, three, and eleven-month old Lilibet, with their youngest child in the UK for the first time.
As they are not working royals, there is no place for them on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the Trooping the Colour but they could attend a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday.
The visit is an opportunity for the Sussexes and other royals to mend some of the rifts which have intensified since Harry and Meghan sensationally quit royal life and moved to California.
The Sussexes have regularly appeared in the United States media where they have criticised the Royal Family and its way of life.
Arriving now in the UK they will not be looking to be in the spotlight with the focus on the Queen, and will have limited media appearances.
They are bringing only a small team of media advisors and security personnel with the plan to “keep it simple,” according to ITV News.
At the same time Palace officials are also reportedly hoping that the appearance of the Sussexes will not overshadow the Queen’s festivities.
The Sussexes will also celebrate their daughter Lilibet's first birthday while in the UK, as it falls on June 4.
Reports have said that the Queen will be joining the couple to celebrate her great-granddaughter's big day, as it is now believed that she is not planning to attend the Epsom Derby on the day, reported OK!.
It will mark the first time the 96 year old has met Lilibet, who is named after her, and the first time she has seen three year old Archie since he was a baby.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited about reuniting with the Queen over the weekend, a royal insider told HollywoodLife, reported OK!
They said: "Harry has such a special relationship with her [the Queen] and so does Meghan, they can't wait for her to spend time with her and to see her bond with Archie and Lili. That's what they're most excited about.
"The whole weekend is going to be focused on The Queen but it's also Lili's first birthday so the timing is really lovely because they'll be able to mark that big milestone with The Queen and the rest of Harry's family."
