Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up to return to social media after sacking their PR agency, says one royal commentator.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly dropped Sunshine Sachs, who Meghan has worked with since her time on US legal drama Suits. After stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the couple retired their official social media channels and have only given statements via their representatives or in media interviews.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, royal commentator Neil Sean has claimed that the ex-royals may make a return to social media in an attempt to improve their public image. "According to a very good source out at Montecito, the ex-royals already have multiple social media trials under different names,” Neil claimed.
“But their own Instagram, Sussex Royal, which has around [9.6] million followers is big business, and Meghan thinks that it’s about time that she and Harry returned to the toxicity of social media. It’s free, it’s cheap, and it’s easy, and you can put your own narrative out.”
After Meghan declared herself “the most trolled person” on the planet last year, Harry was forced to step in and defend his wife, slamming the term ‘Megxit’ as misogynistic. He referenced Bot Sentinel’s report that only a small number of accounts were perpetuating vast swathes of hateful comments against the Duchess.
The royal commentator acknowledged that a return to social media might be accompanied by some backlash. “As ever with social media, though, Meghan needs to realise that whatever she puts out, she may get back but not necessarily like what she sees or hears,” Neil noted.
This comes as reports emerged that another change might be in the works for Harry and Meghan, who are reportedly looking to move to a new home. Speaking on the Royally Us podcast, one royal commentator suggested that the couple could leave their luxurious Montecito neighbourhood to move away from their celebrity neighbours.
