Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in a 'near catastrophic' car chase, after being chased by paparazzi in America.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, who was also involved in the incident, were all in attendance to see the former Suits actress and global campaigner pick up the Women of Vision award in New York on Tuesday evening, with Meghan walking on stage to Alicia Keys' female empowerment anthem Girl on Fire to accept the accolade.
It was Meghan's first public appearance since she missed the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla earlier this month, in order to stay at home in America with her and Harry's two children.
The crash is said to have happened after the event, with a spokesperson for Prince Harry saying: "Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland were involved in a near-catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.
“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers."
They added:“While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.
“Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved.”
Prince Harry was at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, to see his father crowned as King, before getting in a car and heading straight to Heathrow to het back to the States in time for son Archie's fourth birthday.
