Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reported request for "significant edits" to their upcoming Netflix docuseries could see the project "shelved indefinitely" the streaming giant fears.
The Duke, 38, and Duchess, 41 of Sussex are said to have been filming the eagerly anticipated doc for over a year, but they are now thought to be "at odds" with production staff prior to its release.
The couple, who now live stateside, are reported to be working on the project as part of their huge $100 million deal with Netflix. It was originally expected that the series air in December.
However, sources are now saying the pair are looking to downplay their comments made about King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla.
An insider told Page Six : "Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths."
Another source told the publication: "They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided — to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely."
However, the source insisted filmmakers are trying to keep the content in the project and push forward with their production.
It had been previously rumoured Harry and Meghan had been having doubts about the series following the death of the Queen.
As well as the Netflix stutter, Harry’s explosive memoir - which was originally scheduled for release in November - has also been pushed back until next year.
The latest claims come just days after the duo reportedly ditched the PR firm who helped them start their new life in the US.
New York-based Sunshine Sachs has represented the Duchess of Sussex since her acting days and had helped the couple after they stepped down from royal family duties in 2020.
However, the relationship is said to have come to an end with a source telling the Daily Mail: "This is a really big deal for Meghan. She takes the view that she doesn't need to pay an outside firm a lot of money to do PR for her and Harry anymore."
It's claimed Christine Schirmer, head of communications at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's charity Archewell, will now handle publicity for the couple.
The Mirror has contacted Netflix for comment.
