Prince Harry and Meghan 'didn't get what they wanted' in Coronation showdown, says pal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'didn't get what they wanted' from Coronation talks, a close friend has claimed.

The Sussexes allegedly had a number of 'demands' that needed to be met if they were going to attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

At the present time, it appears only three of these have actually been met, with another three definitely not happening and one still up in the air.

While some of the alleged 'demands' are perfectly reasonable and have been agreed by the Palace, Harry didn't get his own way on several of the issues raised.

A close pal of the couple has admitted the talks got "personal" - with the Sussexes and the Firm clashing over key issues.

The friend told PEOPLE magazine: "At this point, it's become so personal. Maybe what they wanted wasn't achieved, but at the end of the day, he's going there to support his dad."

According to insiders, Harry was cutely aware that the historic occasion will be "pretty much the most important day" of the King's life and knew he would regret not attending.

However, he is not expected to take part in either the King’s Procession or the Coronation Procession to and from Buckingham Palace.

As a non-working royal, Harry also won't be on the famous palace balcony, joining the likes of Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie on the sidelines.

"Things are strained," adds a palace insider.

According to sources, Harry intends to fly in for the ceremony for a brief visit then return straight back to California to be with his family on Archie's fourth birthday.

The Coronation date awkwardly falls on the same day as Archie was born - May 6.

Despite being the grandchildren of the new King, it is believed that Archie and sister Lilibet were not invited, with sources citing that the children are "very young".

But the source explained that their inclusion in the ceremony has "never been a bone of contention" because small children don’t attend royal events of this scale "due to restlessness and tantrums".

Harry was said to have always been keen to attend the coronation as it is a key milestone for the family, but would like some recognition of his son's celebration.

"Archie's birthday falls on May 6th, coronation day and the Sussexes want the family to recognise that," a source told OK!.

"The Sussexes have asked for some kind of celebration or acknowledgement to be factored into the day's plans to ensure that his fourth birthday won’t get lost during the momentous day."

It remains to be seen whether there will be any recognition of Archie's birthday, but there are some alleged 'demands' which have been met.

Harry was very rightfully concerned about security - and he has got assurances over his safety.

The duke has been told he will be protected when attending events with the Royal Family over the Coronation weekend.

Meghan did get an invite, but will not attend as she is staying at home with Archie and Lilibet.

And Harry did get to have a private chat with his father before the ceremony, which was supposedly one of his key requirements.

Harry reportedly had a heart-to-heart talk with Charles and wanted to show "support for his father" by attending the Coronation.

There was a "willingness and wanting to mend on both sides" following the revelations in Harry's autobiography, claimed a Sun source.
