Prince Harry and Meghan 'definitely' set to attend King Charles' coronation after explosive memoir

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be attending King Charles' coronation, which also falls on their son Archie's fourth birthday, a source close to the royal family has said.

There has been much speculation over whether the King's son would choose to attend the celebrations in May, or even whether he would receive an invite, following the furore over details spilled by Harry in his recent documentary and memoir. But an unnamed friend of the royals has told the Daily Mail that both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will "definitely come" to the UK for the coronation.

The source said: "Members of the family have told me that both Harry and Meghan will definitely come. They fully expect that. And they should realise that there is only one subject that many members of the royal family will be willing to discuss… and that's the weather."

It comes after Harry made a series of explosive claims in the pair's Netflix documentary and in his memoir Spare about his fractured relationship with the royal family, particularly his father and brother. In one story recounted by Harry, he said that Prince William had "screamed and shouted" at him during a meeting with Charles and the late Queen to discuss his departure as a working member of the family.

However, the Duke said that he had in fact held back on certain revelations over fears that it would cause Charles and William to cut ties with him permanently. "There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know," he said. "Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me."

Buckingham Palace last month announced details for the King's coronation weekend, which is set to take place from Saturday, May 6 to Monday, May 8, and will see the UK get an extra bank holiday for the occasion. Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on Saturday morning, before returning to Buckingham Palace in a procession with other members of the royal family.

The King and Queen Consort will then make an appearance on the balcony with other royals, though it has not yet been confirmed which members will take part in this tradition. On Sunday a special coronation concert will take place at Windsor Castle featuring "global music icons and contemporary stars", which will be broadcast live on the BBC.
