Prince Charles pays tribute to 'inspiration' Jamal Edwards after his sudden death

Prince Charles has paid tribute to Jamal Edwards calling him an "inspiration to so many".

It was confirmed last night that the 31-year-old, who founded the online urban music platform SB.TV and was credited with helping launch the careers of stars like Jessie J and Dave, had died.

Thanks to his impressive achievements and career, Jamal was appointed an MBE for services to music in 2014.

The late star was also an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, a youth charity run by Prince Charles, which helps young people set up their own companies.

And today in a tweet, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, paid tribute to Jamal.

The tweet on the Clarence House Twitter page said: "Thinking of the family of Jamal Edwards today.

"His work in music but also as an ambassador for a new generation, including his work for The Prince’s Trust, was an inspiration to so many."

While another tweet on the Princes' Trust Twitter page read: "An incredible innovator and entrepreneur, Jamal Edwards MBE has been an inspiration for so many young people, through our work and beyond. Our thoughts are with his family."

The royal tribute comes just hours after J amal's mum Brenda paid a touching tribute to her son.

Brenda, a panellist on Loose Women, penned a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain today, and it was read out live on air by Susanna Reid.

It read: "It is with the deepest heartache that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world.

"As we come to terms with his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.

"Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD."

Jamal's pioneering work in the music industry led him to become friends with several celebs - including Ed Sheeran, Will.i.am, Professor Green and Rio Ferdinand.

Earlier this month he attended the BRIT awards and posed on the red carpet dressed in an eye-catching mustard yellow coloured suit.
