Prince Archie ignored by Royal Family on his birthday - and Harry and Meghan stay silent

Prince Archie is celebrating his birthday today - but you wouldn't know it.

Awkwardly, the youngster has turned four on same day as King Charles' Coronation.

Despite being the grandchildren of the new King, it is believed that Archie and sister Princess Lilibet, one, were not invited, with sources citing that the children are "very young".

Instead of being forced to sit inside Westminster Abbey for the ceremony, the Sussex kids will be having a better time enjoying a fun-filled "intimate" birthday party for Archie.

Harry has already been spotted jumping in a car to flee London as he starts his mad dash to get back to California.

Usually, members of the Royal Family send birthday wishes to Archie but none have been seen so far today - even from Harry and Meghan themselves.

Relations between the Duke of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family are at an all-time low, but they still usually post on their social media channels.

The young prince hasn't always had the best of birthdays, with the Royal Family awkwardly forced to re-use old photos of Harry and Meghan's son last year.

According to the Mail, officials at the palace were left feeling uncomfortable because they didn't have an up-to-date picture of Archie to accompany his birthday messages on social media.

Instead they had to use photos from just after he was born or from his official christening.

A source said: "The truth is the Prince of Wales has barely seen his grandson twice since he was born. In fact every member of Harry’s family can easily count on one hand the number of times they saw Archie after he was born and before the family left the UK. It’s a very sad situation."

On the official Royal Family Twitter account, a picture was posted of Archie as a newborn with his parents and grandmother Doria meeting the Queen and the late Prince Philip.

It was accompanied by the message: "Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 3rd Birthday!" It also featured a birthday cake emoji.

Prince William and Princess Kate opted to share a family photo taken at Archie's christening, which also featured Charles, Camilla and two of the late Princess Diana's sisters.

Their message read: "Wishing Archie a very happy 3rd Birthday today" followed by a birthday cake and balloon emojis.

As for Archie's grandfather Charles, his Clarence House Twitter account shared the same picture posted by the Queen's account with the words

His message to his grandson read: "Happy Birthday Archie!"

It's believed Harry will be "in and out of the UK in 24 hours" so he can get back to California for Prince Archie's birthday party.

This means he won't attend the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday night - missing out on the entertainment.

Earlier this month, a royal source told The Mirror : "After much back and forth, Harry said that he would be returning for the King's Coronation but it will only be a fleeting visit.

"Organisers have been told Harry won't be attending the concert with the rest of the Royal Family, which is a great shame as it will be such a spectacular event."

Archie is expected to be treated to an intimate party - and there could be some celebrity guests involved.

"Harry's going to make every effort to get back in time for Archie's birthday," the insider told Page Six.

"It's going to be an intimate party, it's not going to be like 'My Super Sweet 16' or Portia de Rossi's 50th!"
