Prince Andrew's holiday plans disrupted by King's royal residence change

The Duke of York may miss one of his annual holidays this year thanks to a change being made by King Charles. Prince Andrew is currently facing eviction from one royal residence and may not be able to access another, reports The Mirror.

The King's brother normally holidays at Balmoral for two weeks in August, but it has been reported that the residence will stay open to the public for two weeks longer than usual. It was reported before Charles became king that he wanted to open royal residences to the public more often.

This year, Balmoral will remain open to the public daily until August 16 - while the King is expected to take his summer break to the Birkhall, his home on the Balmoral Estate, while he waits for the castle to close to tourists.

However, the extra public dates could mean Prince Andrew may not get a chance to visit the rural getaway. According to Richard Eden for the Daily Mail, the extra dates will "bring significant new revenue into the estate" but he says "it may, however, have the effect of annoying the Duke of York, who has treasured his time in Royal Deeside ever since he was a little boy".

It comes after claims King Charles had plans to evict Prince Andrew from his Royal Lodge home in Windsor - however sources say the Duke of York will be allowed to remain in the property while Sarah Ferguson recovers from breast cancer surgery.
