Prince Andrew arrived at the Coronation of his brother King Charles wearing formal robes despite having no official role in the ceremony. The Duke of York was seen dressed in the lavish Order of the Garter robes, while his nephew Prince Harry wore a suit instead of military uniform.
Prince Andrew is no longer a working royal and was banned by the late Queen from wearing the robes in public for her last Garter Day at Windsor Castle. After arriving at the abbey, Prince Andrew went and took his seat in the Lantern area in the third row with the rest of the Royal Family.
Prince Harry arrived at Westminster Abbey along with the Duke of York and Princess Royal. Anne and Andrew and their children all entered together along with Harry at just before 10.40am.
On his way there, the Duke of York was driven down The Mall in a state car and parts of the crowd in a grandstand in front of Buckingham Palace booed as he went past.
Earlier it was confirmed by Buckingham Palace that Andrew would play no formal role in the Coronation ceremony with the release of the order of service. His name nor his title gets no mention in the entire lengthy programme.
This means he will be absent from the procession behind the Gold State Coach carrying the newly crowned King and Queen from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.
Not only that, he is not expected to feature during an appearance on the Buckingham Palace for the RAF flypast later this afternoon.
Andrew stepped down from public life after his disastrous Newsnight interview in November 2019 and the furore over his friendship with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
He later paid £12million in an out-of-court settlement to his accuser Virginia Giuffre, and was then blocked from appearing alongside the late monarch at the traditional Garter Day procession in Windsor.
Ahead of his legal settlement, his late mother the Queen stripped him of all of his honorary military roles, including Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, and he gave up his HRH style.
