Prince and Princess of Wales’s final touching ‘goodbye’ to Queen

The Prince and Princess of Wales have said a final goodbye to the Queen in a moving tribute.

They described her as “a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother”, accompanied by a black and white photo of her coffin being carried by pallbearers in a Twitter post.

It follows a day of ceremony and procession for Prince William and his wife, Kate, before the Queen’s burial alongside her husband Prince Philip in Windsor at St George’s Chapel.

The pair were joined by their eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the funeral procession and service at Westminster Abbey in London.

Meanwhile Kate was noted paying tribute to the Queen by wearing some of her jewellery on the day.

The Princess of Wales opted for the same necklace and earring combination that she wore just over a year ago for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.

The pieces of jewellery were also previously worn by her husband’s late mother, Diana, and are thought to have been loaned to Kate for the first time by the late monarch in 2017.

The family will join others Royals in observing another week of mourning.

Last week Prince William and Kate had told mourners how it felt “strange” to be marking the Queen’s passing so soon after her platinum Jubilee.

They viewed floral tributes outside Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and met with Commonwealth troops in the lead up to Monday’s state funeral.

Prince William participated in the procession of the coffin from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey along with his father, King Charles III and his brother Harry, the Duke of Sussex.
