Primark has been hit with an array of negative comments after launching mother and daughter matching spring dresses.
The retailer revealed its new collection of 'gorgeous' floral dresses, with prices starting from just £6. However, parents have since slammed the high street giant, with many urging the company to rethink their decision.
The issue arose after Primark shared a video of the matching dresses on social media following the release in stores. The TikTok video showed two mannequins in the floral patterned dresses, captioning the clip: "Time to twin with your little one."
The video's voiceover said: "I don't know who needs to hear this, but spring is coming", with lots of mums in the comments explaining they couldn't wait to welcome the new season by twinning with their daughter.
However, others were left upset, reports the Mirror. Mums of little boys left comments expressing how disappointed they were that they could not match with their sons this springtime, with one writing: "Mums of boys would love it if Primark did a collection where you could match with the little men in your life!"
Another fumed: "We want to match our boys too! Come on now, my boy would rock that print in a pair of shorts."
"Crying in boy mum," another wrote, with a fourth adding: "...and the BOYS???" followed by multiple blue hearts.
Another angry mum commented: "Some mums have boys, believe it or not. Are we just not allowed to matchy match?"
"Us boy mums are forgotten", a fellow TikToker fumed.
Primark's Instagram post showing off the new dresses was met by similar reaction, with one user commenting: Super cute, but what about mom & boys?"
But many others were left excited by the idea of matching up with their wee one, tagging their friends to share the snap.
A spokesperson for Primark said: "We regularly have matching ranges for the entire family, including our famous Christmas fam jams and our Amalfi lemon range last summer. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming summer family collection, due in stores in about eight weeks!"
